Worship Commission

STEWARDSHIP 2009

AND TOGETHER WE ARE:

THE WORSHIP COMMISSION

Did you know that the Worship Commission, headed this year by Barbara Wilkens and Cal Weber, plans and implements special services, schedules ushers and greeters (sign up in the gathering space!) and plans and creates the special decorations for the Sanctuary (the hanging of the greens for Advent is an
upcoming event).
We Are the Church Together

The Worship Commission also oversees the musical life of the church, including our amazing Adult Choir and wonderful Bell Choir, both led by Simona Frenkel.  (Welcome back, Simona!) The Commission also oversees the Sunday Afternoon Concert Series.

The Commission’s work provides us the blessings of praying, worshipping, celebrating, singing, and ringing together. As we are blessed, so we will humbly share our blessings.

Ushers Needed

If you are looking to get involved at the church but don’t have much time why not try USHERING on a Sunday morning.  This is a very important part of the Church service.  It is also a good way to meet and greet new people or connect up with old friends.  Ushering is done during the worship service so if you are in Church what better way to help out than to usher.

There is a sign up sheet in the gather place for you to sign up for which Sunday is easier for you and also which service you attend 8:30 or 10:45.  Signing up will save Deanna Collins and Pat Prauda from having to make phone calls.

World Communion Sunday - October 4

On Sunday October 4th, our church with others around the world will celebrate our oneness in Christ, the Prince of Peace. Celebrated the first Sunday in October – it is one of the most vener-able of “special Sundays.” World Communion Sunday (originally called World Wide Commun-ion Sunday) originated in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 1936. The day has taken on new relevancy and depth of meaning in a world where globalization often has undermined peace and justice – and in a time when fear divides the peoples of God's earth. It reminds us that we are called to serve in the midst of a world ever more in need of peacemaking.

Consecration Sunday -- October 25 –--

Stewardship Update

What a great celebration we had on October 25, as we gathered to make our stewardship commitments for 2010 and to celebrate our church together!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make Consecration Sunday a spe-cial day in the life of our church.

Judy Chessa, chair
Stewardship Task Force

We are all called to minister together to the needs of God’s people both inside and out-side of our Church. We empower that ministry through our faithful stewardship commitment. On Consecration Sunday, we will have the opportunity to offer our 2010 financial commitment to the work of Jesus Christ through our Church.

What better time is it than now to continue our faithful stewardship and to celebrate this extraordinary community of God’s people?

We hope you will join your fellow parishioners for this time of worship, fellowship and thanksgiving for all that God has given us to share. Everyone is invited!
